Nice to Meet You!

Hi, I’m Dani!

My life has been shaped by several life transitions. When I was 19 years old, I lost my mom, and I thought I would never be able to move forward in life without her. I faced unrelenting grief, was lost, and felt like nobody could understand.

I also moved from Ontario to British Columbia and built a career in Recreational Therapy just to decide to go back to school and start again as a Counsellor.

I know what it is like to face the uncertainty and vulnerability of building a new life in a new place, and sometimes without the people you imagined being there with you. Change is really hard and scary. I approach my practice with the empathy of shared experience and the understanding that at times life can be really challenging, and that’s okay.

What’s my Approach?

My approach to counselling is trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, queer-affirming, neurodiverse friendly, compassionate and warm.  I believe that our past influences our present, however we don’t need to be prisoners of what happened to us. We can explore the experiences that have shaped you, the coping styles that you’ve collected along the way, and what continues to serve a helpful function in your life. Or we can address what might be getting in the way.

I enjoy bringing humour into the room, because I believe healing does not have to be serious. Yet, I am not afraid to challenge patterns that might be unhelpful so you can show up better for yourself, your relationships, and your community.
