Grief Counselling

What is Considered Grief ?

Grief is something that can be so debilitating that you have no idea how to move forward, or so subtle that you can’t even pin it to a reason.

Here is a list of some, not all, experiences that might have grief involved that I work with:

- Death of Loved One

- Loss of Friendship

- Work Termination

- Terminal Diagnosis

- Life Transition

- Loss of an Animal

- Pregnancy Loss or Infertility

- Disability & Loss of Health

- Relationship Breakup & Divorce

Book and Eyeglasses

I help clients understand the layers of grief, practice self-kindness, and move forward. With a background in Neuroscience, I also explain how the brain responds to grief to help make sense of their experience.

What Does Grief Look Like?

Book on Therapy Couch

Grief can look like so many different things, and although can be similar to other peoples experience of grief, it is never completely the same.

Sometimes it’s an emotional response: sadness, anger, numbness, depression, relief, confusion, guilt, or disbelief. Feeling like this will never end, or that you’re crazy.

Sometimes it’s more behavioural - forgetfulness, sleeping a lot or not enough, avoidance of others or not wanting to be alone, keeping busy, staring at a wall, or changes in appetite.

Other times it’s symptoms in the body. This can be stomach aches, headaches, exhaustion, insomnia, heart palpitations, mental fog, nausea, or joint pain.

What Now?

If you have felt any of the above mentioned experiences or other ones not even mentioned, it’s important to receive the right kind of support. Let me help you during this incredibly vulnerable and challenging time so you can get back to feeling like yourself again.
